As you may know if you read some of my recs, I absolutely love
lady_ragnell's works. And this one is no exception. It's about what Ygraine would think of what happened during the twenty first years of Arthur's life, while she was away, how she can change things after she came back, and how it'd affect everyone and everything. It's a wonderful story.

I know I ought to do a post about what's happening to me (I intend to do one, I really do!!) but I'm now in the middle of my lunch break and I just read a very very beautiful fic, and I felt the urge to rec it... So here's a Arthur/Merlin Canon Era AU for you:

A/S: A month into their tour of the kingdom, Merlin fell ill. (There's no author's summary just a few indications: "age difference (18/35), student/teacher, pre-modern fantasy/magic au; illness h/c")

This fic is a bit difficult to talk about. The world is different, a lot of things are, but it's strong and beautiful and amazing. Merlin is like an older version of himself, what he would have become if he was older, and met Arthur later. There's no explicit slash in this story, but it isn't gen either, because there are so many feelings. We follow Arthur's POV, and it's amazing because even though he's 18, he's still the prince, and then has a certain education. All in all, this could almost be read as an Original, except that knowing the characters, their looks and everything is making the story even richer.
Reel Merlin rec
Sep. 8th, 2011 06:44 amFor a moment, I thought I wouldn't post a rec again, because some people in fandom are disgusting me, and I didn't want anything to do with them. But who would I be if I stopped doing what I like to do and sharing what I love because some people have nothing better to do with their lives than telling anonymous hate over people's back? Beside, even if they feel so powerful, they are a very small minority. Mostly, fandom is about love, and let's not forget that.
I know I'm not nearly done with my
paperlegends reading, but I saw today that someone made a reel fic over The King's Speech, which is a movie I love, and I couldn't not read it. It's a Arthur/Merlin Modern Au (or maybe Historical?)
The Prince's Speech, by

A/S : Arthur is the Crown Prince of Camelot, he has just one problem, his speech. When his father takes ill he finds he must either find his voice or risk losing the throne. Can unconventional speech therapist Merlin Emerson help the Prince speak? And what happens when the Prince falls in love with the man who has helped him find his voice?

I loved the movie so much, I couldn't not read this. And I was not disappointed. It starts like the movie, awesome as it is, and then, slowly, the author's choices, and the show's characteristic (especially Merlin's characterization, which is breathtaking in this fic) are taking over, and things diverty from the movie... But the important bits are here (including the famous speech, which makes me very emotionnal, because it's a beautiful speech)... and then it goes further the movies timeline, because Arthur and Merlin are in love, and that requires some talk, right? The ending is beautiful, and I'll leave you to discover it by yourself.
