A Canon Era Rec List has arrived!
Jan. 4th, 2012 12:05 amI wanted to update my Modern AU Rec List but there's too much work to do so to give me some courage I started by finally compiling all the Merlin/Arthur Canon Era recs I did so far.
Here it is: Merlin/Arthur Canon Era and Canon Era AU Rec List
Hopefully, my Modern AU rec list should be updated soon ^^ I'll let you know <3
(Oh and, for all I'm angry at LJ, the new Rich Text Editor makes creating a Rec List so much easier!)

LJ Release 88 - There's hope...
Dec. 22nd, 2011 03:40 pmLivejournal posted a new entry on
news and it seems like they are working on fixing the mess they created as soon as possible.
Notice that the "Link" "Expand" and "Collapse" links already re-appeared in theugly new comment page. That is good news. Hopefully, subject lines and a senseful userpic selection system will follow.
I do not intend on leaving LJ because a lot of great people and communities are here and I don't like DW that much... I believe we'll all lose less time by adjusting to LJ (especially since it seems they're trying to move fast to fix the mess) than by moving everything to DW.

How to survive after LJ Release 88
Dec. 21st, 2011 06:18 pmFirst thing to do: check how your comments appear.
- If they're normal, don't do anything.
- If they're not, go to your "Customize Journal Style", verify it's in S2 style. [You can check if you have S1 or S2 at the bottom of the Theme bar on the left side here....]
If it is (it should be), go to "Customize your Style" and to "Disable customized comment pages" say "No". [It's for all accounts. Go here. Go down in the page to Presentation Basic Options and put "Disable customized comment pages for your journal" to "No"]
If it is not, you have to upgrade to S2 ^^"
If it doesn't work, it might be because you're in Basic account. Sadly this only works for Plus (and Paid) accounts [NOTE: Plus account is FREE!], so you'll have to upgrade. It only takes a few clicks but your LJ layout will most likely be lost.
NOTE: the change only applies for your own journal. The comment pages of the other journals/community you go to depend on their respective owner. I can only encourage you to ask them to make these changes.

Let's give LJ some love shall we?
Aug. 23rd, 2011 10:17 amI know a lot of us have been angry at the new Rich Text Editor and I will probably never forget LJ for deleting the button that allowed me to write the "rec" part of my recs.
BUT
Some of you may not know it but there is something absolutely AMAZING about the new Rich Text Editor.
Because while it fucks up the format of you old entries when you try to edit them (not the new ones, thanksfully) there's a very easy way to fix it:
Copy the old entry. (like ctrl c)
Past it in the Rich Text Editor (like ctrl v)
Everything is perfect and already there: the links, the lj users, the style... everything!
And it works with any entry. If you want to rec a fic, or copy something one of your fellow lj-er wrote, just copy it, past it in the Rich Text Editor and ALL THE FORMATING/HTML CRAP is done for you! It's so easy.
This is amazing.
I didn't try if it works with and image yet... Let's try it:
It does, and it keeps the link! You won't need the stupid box with all the HTML stuff to c/p anymore! <333

For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.
As I said last time, while it's frustrating not to have access, LJ is a lot more than a social network platform. From the article:
"LiveJournal isn’t just a social network. It’s also a platform for organizing civic action. Dozens of network projects and groups mobilize people to solve specific problems — from defending the rights of political prisoners to saving endangered historic architecture in Moscow."
So while I know many are considering the move over to Dreamwidth and other such sites, supporting LJ is a way we can help support those who use it for more than a writing/roleplaying/social venue.
Also, as a FYI, LJ is giving paid users effected by the outage two weeks of paid time as compensation.
